XK Evocation replica at Le Mans this yearFor sale: Race prepared XKD evocation.

OFS 561, was originally completed in 1990 for Peter Preston Racing as a long-nose replica of the 1957 Le Man's winner driven by the Ecurie Ecosse team of Ron Flockhart and Ivor 'The Driver' Bueb.

Recently, the car has undergone a bolt for bolt total rebuild and was fitted with a Keith Fell prepared, full-race 3.8 litre engine before returning to Le Man's to complete a three lap exhibition race on the full circuit at the September Historic Festival.

It completed the drive home, Arnage to Manchester, in exactly nine hours of non-stop driving at an average speed of 66.2 m.p.h. It may have stopped a few hearts en-route but the engine never missed a beat.

Now nicely run-in and race ready, the car is built on an original Reynard chassis. Mechnically everything but the chassis has been renewed or rebuilt, while retaining a race worn patina that will invite the inevitable question: "Is it a real one.'

The main body is maintenance free fibreglass with extensive use of detailed aluminium panelling in the tub and engine bay.

Early in its life this car was the company 'show car' of the original constructors, L&R/Ram having being finished to the highest spec.

Jaguar Drivers Club 'best build' and concourse winner, the car is offered ready to drive away at £31,000 with a race-spare short circuit dif. and Weber carburetors to replace the road-use triple 2 inch SUs.

Fibre glass body with authentic fin, the car has built its own enviable history having appeared at exhibition events at Silverstone, Donnington, Oulton Park, Le Mans, Spa and Assen. Full history and a wealth of photographic records.

The genuine Ecurie Ecosse period Edinburgh number plate OFS 561 worth £3,000 may remain with the car. Ecurie Ecosse raced on MWS and RFS. Finding an Ecurie Ecosse number plate today is like finding a needle in a haystack and everyone knows their value.
