N° OKV 2 Colour BRG | Second 1954 works car; Le Mans, Moss/Walker (race number 12), DNF (achieved new recond s,oeed on Mulsanne Straight,172.97mph); Reims 12 Hours, Moss/Walker, DNF; TT, Dundrod, fitted with 2 1/2-litre engine, WhiteheadN\lharton, 5th refitted with 3.4 engine (E2004-9 which had been fiDed, at least temporarily, back in April); 1955 Daily Express Silverstone, Rolt, 3rd; sold to Jack Broadhead for Bob Berry to race; Goodwood, 2nd; Oporto GP, 5th; Goodwood Nine Hours, with Dewis, 5th; TT, Dundrod, crashed; rebuilt, aecording to Berry, "with a similar integral body subframe assembly which was originally built by the factory as a prototype"; 1956 painted lighter green; Silverstone, 3rd; Goodwood, 1st; heavily crashed at same Goodwood meeting (cartwheeled at St Mary's); put in returned to Jaguar for Rebuild instead of car virtually written off. The reason car virtually written off is inaccurate is because this indicates it ceased to exist, which is untrue as it immediately went back to Jaguar for rebuild and returned to racing 4 months later (according to factory records) ; 1956-58 continued to be raced by variety of drivers including Jack Fairman, Ron Flockhart, Peter Blond & cyclist Reg Harris; 1958 engine changed at works from E2004-9 to E2065-9; soon sold to Gerry Crozier; 1960 sold, via Chequered Flag, to David Jaycox (Canada); later owners included George Gordon, James Mace & James Catto between early 1960s & 1980; during this time one driver was killed & car was crashed, around 1964. by A. Smith at Mosport Park; 1980 sold in damaged state to Geoffrey Miller (Canada); soon sold to Lynx; car re-imported was to late D-type production spec with steel frame; early 1930s rebuilt & sold to James Wallis (Sevencaks, UK); 1995 sold to Robert Cooper (Gloucestershire, UK).1999 sold to Terry Larson |
