XK Evocation - MULTI-MILLION POUND GRID AT THE GOODWOOD REVIVAL

The Goodwood Revival, the world’s most authentic historic motor sport meeting, always attracts the top cars, motorcycles, drivers and riders. This year’s event, set to be held from 31 August to 2 September, will be no exception, with a full race card of 14 races, including the jewel in the Revival crown, the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration, an epic one-hour, two-driver race.

The TT first came to the Goodwood Motor Circuit in 1958 as a three-hour endurance race for sports racing cars. These prototypes were succeeded by GT cars in the early 1960s, exemplified by the standard Ferrari 250GT SWB models that Stirling Moss famously drove to outstanding victories in the 1960 and 1961 TTs.

Stablemates of these Ferraris are now worth a fortune, as are the much-sought 250 GTO and 330 LMB models, examples of which can be seen in action at the Revival. Joining Maranello’s finest will be a nest of AC Cobras, various lightweight Jaguar E-Types, plus some scarce Aston Martins, and even a rarely seen ISO Bizzarini A3C.

For 2007, the value of the cars set to line up on the Goodwood grid for the TT is estimated to exceed £30 million. Despite this, the ultra-rare Ferraris, Aston Martins and AC Cobras will all be driven in anger, with some of the closest and most competitive wheel-to-wheel racing to be seen anywhere in the world.

A few names to look out for behind the wheels of these impeccable multi-million pound machines include Sir Stirling Moss (Ferrari 250 GTO), Richard Attwood (Aston Martin DB4GT), Jackie Oliver (AC Cobra Le Mans Coupé), Derek Bell (Jaguar E-type lightweight) Hurley Haywood (Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray), Rauno Aaltonen (Jaguar E-Type), John Whitmore (Shelby American Cobra Daytona Coupé) and Andy Rouse (Jaguar E-Type).

The exciting Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration will take place at 2 p.m. on Revival Sunday, 2 September, with 25 minute official practice sessions taking place both on the Friday and Saturday.
